Weather you find favor in the Confederate States of America or are a proud son of the Union, you will find a bretheren here in the State of Maine with whom to share an experience like no other with. To be a reenactor of the American Civil War!

Civil War reenactors, or living historians as some prefer to be called, are active and operating in the State of Maine as both Yankees and Rebels. In fact there is more than one group active in the state portraying opposite sides of this war.

Many groups have at least one event every month. Frequently more than one a month during the summer.

These events vary greatly depending on the portrayal. It could be an encampment at a local park or museum to support a community celibration. It could be a parade for a partiotic holiday. It could be a recreation of an historic moment. Or it could be a tactical where two commanders pit their knowledge, skill and forces against each other in a weekend long series of engagements that bring you as close to the Civil War without Mr. Peabody's Way Back Machine.
