Living History Groups in Maine

I have long wanted MaineMilitia.com to be about all eras of living history and reenacting in and around Maine. A couple of days ago, I added to the calendar for as many groups as I could find. Last night, I found a few more and decided to share this list.

Are there any I am missing?

  1. I’ve added it Scott. Thanks!

It had been on my museum list because I was not sure how much living history they do regularly? I haven’t decided how I want to expose my museum list. It will be ridiculously long! So I may stick to just places and groups who do living history and reenacting. And direct people to other lists of museums and collections of old stuff.

  2. Also, should I put Colonial Pemaquid and Pownalborough Court House on the list? They don’t have large regular living history but weekly have their night time soldier walk, and a few times a year have a larger event. Or just put their larger events on the calendar?

Then what about Owls Head Transportation Museum? They regularly have vehicles and planes moving, which seems like living history to me. But does every antique autoshow count as living history?

I need to figure out what I want to focus on. I’m not sure I can be all inclusive. Opinion?

  3. You can remove the James Howards Company link as at this time they do not exist (or you can link it to Old Fort Western) but luckily you can replace it with Fletcher’s Scouting Company!
