RMS Titanic Centennial

RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic on April 15th, 1912, one hundred years ago this weekend.

There are a variety of centennial remebrances going on around the event. I wrote about the “last dinner” a few weeks ago. And today I discovered a Twitter feed with updates that correspond to the radio messages of the voyage and journal entries from crew and passengers that survive.

I’ve been following @TitanicRealTime for a few hours and find the post riveting. With just about 27 hours left until the iceberg arrives, there is not much time left. But I thought some of you might like following this.

There are a number of Twitter accounts that do historical posts following events like this. There is a day-by-day Civil War and a day-by-day World War II. I’m sure there are others if you go looking for them. It’s an interesting way to follow the historical timing of an event!

Incidentially, you can find me on Twitter @Mjohnson16.
