Hi Deb,

I linked to this post from the calendar event I created. If you would like, I can copy the contents of your post into the event I created. If you like, you can create separate events for each of the various dates, or any other 15th Ala. event you would like to publicize.

Thanks!

Train

the First time we ever did the event we did it and they had their diesel train, then we did it with the steam train, and it looked a lot better, of course a more authentic addition to a event that is on the edge of authentic....albeit a fun event for us and spectators....and gives the train an extra draw....well the orginal steam schedule had the fathers day wekend as a steam train and now it doesnt, so we would rather hit the steam train than the diesel........I dont know if that sounds like getting on a high horse but I think the experiance is enhanced with a steam train...for all involved....

Hi to all from down South. We

Hi to all from down South. We did our train raid this past weekend in the small Florida town of Parrish. All whent well and had a great time. Unfortunately they had to use their diesel engine, and I agree it was not as much fun as the steam engine was in Portland. One good thing that happend as a result of the diesel was the addition of an air conditioned bar car, and let me tell you at a 90* Florida event that was the most poular car on the train! At this point I will be there in Portland for the October run, and I am trying to find extra time off for the September run we will see. everybody stay safe and I will see you at Norlands!

Mike, that would be great!

Mike, that would be great! Hardly ever get to wear grey or butternut, which of course are my true colors! Sorta sad you can not go much further South than where I am, yet I must resort to fighting Fedral down here in the lower Confederacy! Oh well somebody needs to be the bad guy, or we wouldn't have anyone to shoot at!

Fought with the 14th brooklyn for our train raid. we held the train for the first run and then attacked it on the second run. Florida Gulf RR actualy has a fairly long road bed. I would guess it to be at least a five mile ride.

the premis is that the local confederate forces had torched a bridge so we needed to return to Parrish and on the way back they had "blocked" the tracks. So we piled off the train fought off the 20 or so confederates and cleared the tracks, then it was back to the bar car!

It appears that there was

It appears that there was some confusion at the railroad, and they had their steam schedulde wrong, so we are back on for that weekend and now the plea for union defence of the train goes out.......three trains this year, we need some kind of blue.....same deal as before, you get to run us off a few times so its not a one sided event.......talk to the guys who have done it before...its a blast!
