Norlands
My dear Ladies and Gentlemen~
Both Seamus and I are on the Norlands planning committee. If you have any questions or suggestions, I offer that you ask one of us. Registrations are being handled by Norlands. Those of us living in Maine should take advantage of and show support for our local All New England Event.
Norlands is shaping up to be a most awsome! I do hope to see you all there!
Kindest Regards,
Miss Rose
A Missed Event
Hi Guys,
Unfornuately I will not be able to attend as that is the weekend of my high school guadation. I will be with all of you in spirit and thoughts. Hopefully it will be good event and the weather will nice.
Anyways keep me posted on the planning as it comes along.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Cpl.Jared Johnson, 3rd Maine
Press Conference on Saturday
Hey Cristabell and Mike,
And anyone else going to the press conference on Saturday.
Can you give us a report Saturday night about how it went? Who showed up? What the atmosphere was?
I've been plugging the event in June with the world. Not that I expect my friends in England and Germany to come. But you just don't know who they will mention it to.
Stop the Presses!!!
My dear Mr. Johnson~
I am most grateful for all you are doing to support Maine and the event at Norlands this year.
I will most certainly keep you posted as I am sure Seamus will as well as to how things go this weekend. I shall post the civilian activites, etc after the meeting Saturday as they should be pretty well set.
Tis truly a shame you will not be joining us there. I do hope you are able to come out and play at some point this summer.

does any one know?
what the numbers are looking like? i live in livermore and i am hoping t will be a good turnout
Well I will be comming up
Well I will be comming up from Florida to attend so you know there will be at least one other person in attendance!
Tophat
Turn out rumors?
I've been pushing this event hard at work and I have it on good authority that at least 25 people from the Gardiner area will be attending. In fact one teacher was considering an extra credit question on the final exam for her US History students that go to the event.
Of course they are disappointed that I am unable to attend. But I assured them that everyone they meet will be as fantastic as I am. Ha ha ha...
So what are the rumors for reenactor turnout?
me me!
I'm going with my son and at least one guy from my unit
Numbers
My dear Pvt Pearson~
I am not certian the numbers as I am not in state at the moment, but last I knew, things are shaping up rather nicely. I am with hopes that you local boys will show our pards from away the time of their lives so thay will wish to come back again.
The website www.norlands.org has regular updates adn posted the basic battle scenarios.
I look forward to seeing/meeting you all there.
Warmest regards,
Miss Rose
Disappointments abound
My dear dear Mr. Johnson~
Yes, yes. tis a disappointment for sure. You have tirelessly advocated the event and it saddens me that you will not be present. Although that gives us fodder for pratting. You will be sorely missed, but I look forward to time down the road when we shall chat over a nice cup of tea.
Mark your calendar for July 2010... and don your cracker jacks!!
Fondly,
Miss Rose
doves
My dear Mr. Reeder~
I am delighted that you will be joining us at Norlands. I look forward to making your acquaintance. If you need a place to fall in, I am most certain the 20th ME will be most gracious in having you join them.
til then,
~Miss Rose
Safe journey
My dear Mr. Tophat~
How wonderful you will be coming north again. I look forward to sharing some time with you. shhhh...... we mustn't allow the union boys to catch me cavorting with the likes of you again ;)
Safe journey,
~Miss Rose
Rumors, rumors, rumors
My dear Mr. Johnson~
I apologize the delay in my response, but as you know life has been a bit upended lately. I am not one to spread rumors, however, I can give you an official head count to date. So far, we have a decent sized gathering: 142 registrants, 55 federal military, 25 federal civilian, 38 confederate military, 25 confederate civilian. A nice balance indeed. Hoping to have walk-ons as well.
If anyone wishes to attend and has not registered, feel free to contact either myself or Norlands directly.
Hope to see you all there.
Miss Rose
Outstanding! Those are great
Outstanding! Those are great numbers. It will be the first event in years that I have attended where the blue will be there in greater numbers than the gray! Normaly down here in the South the Federal ranks are more than half filled by "Confederals" needless to say there hearts are just not in it, so it tends to make the Fedrals appear somewhat sloppy!
So the next question would be about the weather! Anyone with a crystal ball know what to expect? Cooler weather would sure be fine by me!
Tophat
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
My dear Mr. Tophat~
I concur that cooler weather would be most pleasant, however, my fairer blood longs for warmer days.
I have my caldron brewing and am in hopes the weather will be pleasurable for all those involved. Where is your tent to be encamped so I may direct the snow to you?
Most anxious to see you again,
Miss Rose
Congrats to all!
I agree, those numbers are very promising! Congratulations to all involved. It's already a success.
I too, am hoping for fair weather that weekend. The head count at my daughters birthday party, the reason i can't make the event, is at 30. I'm hoping we can have the celebration outside as my house is too small for everyone inside.
Miss Rose, A small patch of
Miss Rose,
A small patch of snow to camp in would be wonderful! That would be a first for me even after all of these years. I just put an "A" tent in the mail yesterday so hopefuly it will beat me up North, and I plan to set up in the Confederate camp however I understand that everyone else has probably seen plenty of the white stuff to last them for awhile, so just have that small snow storm delivered off to the side of the camp for me as I wouldn't whan't to inconvienence anyone else!
On another note one of my pards over in New York state also does a war of 1812 impression, and has sent me more than one picture of them fighting and dying in the snow. I have always threatend to attend that event but it just has never worked out for me.
I am looking forward to getting up there to see everyone and to burn some powder. It is simply to hot for wool down here this time of year, so here in our reenacting community we have very little to do this time of year.
Tophat
30 screaming girls or the rebel yell which do you fear most?
Michael you are very brave man! Wish that you could be at Norlands since you would be a worthy adversary! Willing to stand the line in the face of 30 screaming girls, I'm not sure but that sounds worse to me than the rebel yell and a full Confederate charge! I think that I would run away, far, far away!
Good Luck
Tophat
you know
it would be cool if the norlands had their first ful company of little girls.
stick them with calvary rifles and put them on the front lines
nothing more scary than 30 screaming little girls at full charge!
I'll take the rebel yell
... over a herd of 5 years old going after a pinata. Ha ha ha...
RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!
My dear Pvt~
A properly raised girl would neither scream nor run at full charge... she would know her place in society from a young age and act appropriately....
~obvioulsy, Miss Rose missed that part of her upbringing... lol
Properly riased
Thank you Miss Rose,
You have now confirmed that I am failing as a father. For I know even I want to run away in fear from time to time...
:)
Fear not, Mr. Johnson
My dear Mr. Johnson~
It is not you who is faililng, tis the school in which your dear daughter attends. You really should consider Miss Pam's up north. Your child will leave well mannered and ready to find a suitable mate.
~Miss Rose
Dear, dear Mr. Tophat
My dear Mr. Tophat~
I must admit a few years ago, I was making a snowman on Mother's Day with my granddaughter. Yep, still had a little snow mid May. YIKES!! I will make sure that my order for snow goes to the Rebel camp as well as a note showing it was YOU who requested it. I guess that answers where Miss Rose will be encamped...NOT with the snow!
'Tis a bit milder this year. I am with hopes it warms a little more so we may sleep in comfort. Will you be coming by carriage or horseback this trip? If by carriage, perhaps you could use a rest along the way. Would love to make you a cup of tea. Maybe even hop in for the rest of the ride.
Regardless, safe journey. I hope to see you soon.
~Miss Rose
falling in?
My dear Mr. Reeder~
With whom will you all be falling in? Do make sure to stop by for a visit.
~Miss Rose
Good Morning Miss Rose
Miss Rose, I must remind you that the snow request for next to the confederate camp not in it! You must be careful, I do not want to face a firing squad upon my arrival! From what I am reading here and on the local news station sounds like it should be a great weekend weather wise, rain does not cause me any physical pain!
The Confederate balloon corp assures me that they can get me at least into the Portland area, but from their I will need to be a little more crafty! By the time I reach Norlands I may be just a little foot sore and weary. Being from the South my tea preferance is iced and on the sweet side. So please if you see me staggering by, waive me in!
Tophat
Snow falling on Confederates
Dearest Mr. Tophat~
Oh dear! I am afraid your change of request may not be relayed in time to change the course. Perhaps you should consider moving up the hill to the winning side of the war ;)
I shall make sure doc has some "sweet tea" waiting to aleviate any discomfort you may be suffering from upon your arrival from your travels.
I will put up a prayer for safe skies and warm breezes to aid in your travels.
Fondly,
Miss Rose
Was so nice to spend time
My dear Mr. Tophat~
It was indeed a delight to see you again. I am sorry your dear wife was unable to attend. Soon, perhaps.
I look forward to furthering our discussion about the Firemen's Muster in the works for 2011 up here. Please send me a post so we may knock the ideas around.
Enjoy my Northern version of "sweet tea". ;)
Warmest Regards,
Miss Rose
delighted
My dear Mr. Reeder~
It was a delight to meet you and you son at Norlands. I do hope you enjoyed the time there. You seemd a ghost as you were there one minute, gone the next. Perhaps I shall hire a ghost hunter next time.
Warmest regards,
Miss Rose

Back In September
Miss Rose,
Was my pleasure escorting you around the camps, you can never trust those Fedrals to be gentlemen! My hope is that you will get to meet Becky on the train this October. My further hope is that the two of you will not conspire against me! Please accept my appologies for not coming over to say a proper good bye but as you may remember my means of transportation was not my own!
I hope that I can complete my engine for the muster!
Tophat
Soon
My dear Mr. Tophat~
It was I who was honored to be escorted by such a noble man as yourself. I fear when Becky is here, I shall not find a suitable replacement for you. I am most certain she and I will definately conspire...I mean, put the thought of she and I conspiring against you out of your head. No room for such thoughts.
I do hope you had a safe trip home. You have already made arrangements for next July, yes?
If you need the information on where to procure parts for your engine, I will be happy to give you the gentleman's information. Dash me a post and I shall reply.
Warmest Regards,
Miss Rose
