Hi all,
It looks like I may have a snowday tomorrow. If that occurs then I intend to do some maintenance and an upgrade to this site. So it will be offline and unavailable for a while. And I might make some other changes as well. Thanks!
Stay tuned,

Lack of power prevented maintenance
Lack of power prevented any of the planned tinkering to the website.
But things are getting back to normal here. Still have some cleanup in the yard to do. I do hope everyone's power is back and that you are all health, warm and in good spirits.

Its amazing I didnt loose
Its amazing I didnt loose power but where I work lost the furnace for the day and the trees around here were bent over with the ice...quite the surreal look , like some kind of winter fairyland and you should see the car lights at night when the car was behind a ridge and the lights were in the ice....quite pretty. but no so much for people who were without power and still are.....

Sounds pretty
The car lights at night sounds pretty. I didn't experience anything like that. The sound of the trees cracking and the tinkle of ice was frightening.
We went 38 hours without. Just long enough to be annoying.

One of the things I never
One of the things I never understood about the place where I live, these are duplexes built in the 1970's during the first energy "crunch" and there is no provision for wood, and they are not hooked up for Gas. So, here we are in the deep dark woods up on a ridge, with only our oil heat and electricity, so we get one limb across a wire and we lose power.
Now, on the great ice storm of 08 we dont lose any power but the place is covered with ice.......Did lose the top of a dying poplar tree, now I have less to cut down come spring.

Glad to here that my "pards"
Glad to here that my "pards" up North have survived the ice. Fortunately we have not had those type of issues down here! I know that when the hurricans hit our State the reenacting community comes together to help our own. Their was one unit back in 92 when hurricane Andrew flatened Homestead, came together and was able to put together tentage and camping gear fot their memebers that had lost their homes. Not ideal living conditions but better than some!

Coming together
That's a great story Todd,
The reenacting community in Maine is pretty spread out but if the call came forward I'm sure someone would step up. Maine'ers in general pitch in pretty well when the poop hits the fan. Those with generators sharing warmth and water with those without, pitching in to clear trees down in the driveway and helping with a push out of the ditch. And just generally checking in to make sure everyone is okay. It restores my faith in mankind!
I don't think tentage would cut it around here this time of year though. At least not with my wife. Ha ha ha...
And I think I will take a winter in Maine to the threat of hurricane season down your way. I can ride out a decent storm but every once in a while your fellas get one that you just can't get out of the way of.
Or so it seems from this green pasture. Ha ha ha...

You know Maine is one of
You know Maine is one of those places where we dont get many Tornadoes and if we do they are pretty small, we might get a blizzard but you can get that out of the way event if you have to shovel, we get some windy storms from time to time and flooding but most of us try to live on the hills, and we are pretty geologicaly stable with only a few fault lines in the new england /maritimes that might cause a rumble a time or two......and we dont whine much but they still find some for the camera when the reporters hit the street!

God blessed
God blessed Maine in many ways! We are probably due for a good forest fire or two, but your points are appreciated by me.
Interestingly, those whiners you speak of, I always wonder where they are from? I mean, before they came to Maine. Ha ha ha... Or how many quotes the news people did not use because they were not tragic enough?
