Greetings,
I attended the Norlands' annual meeting and the theme was how to Rebuild Norlands. It appears that they are focusing on the barn hoping to recreate its 1867ish form.

They are also looking for volunteer "to foster interest in the Washburn family's roles in the major issues and events of its time (including abolition, the Civil War, westward expansion, and industrial/commercial development), relating these to issues, challenges and opportunities of our present day.

I truly believe that IF the you wants a very good cause to support, building the barn at Norlands just might be it. Please help to secure our Maine history by making a contribution to the Washburn Norlands Living History Center, 290 Norlands Road, Livermore, ME 04253. May I suggest a family membership at $25.00 or any other amount that you feel comfortable giving.
Your Obedient servant,
Pvt Craig "PicNic" Young

Thanks Craig

Thanks for the update Craig,

Any idea what replacing the barn will cost? I also see they want to repair the slate roof over the library. Also a worthy and important part of the center.

I will just add some links here for those that don't know all the details.
