reenactment groups from other countries

Seamus's picture

I have in more recent times been looking for 15th Alabama counterparts to try and get some feedback from them as to the health of their units and reenacting. so far the unit in washington will reply but not the ones in Alabama....but I have not limited my search to the united states, and have looked over to europe where the civil war is alive and kicking a bit....england has a big civil war assoc. with several units on both sides I have tried to make contact with several groups and one e-mailed back....conclusion the civil war reenactment attracts the 40something and older crowd..... but not much more info was passed....so much for the international pen pal.... but then while looking up info on the 14th la. I found a unit in Italy that portrays them. have e-mailed them about being near the birthplace of zebulon York but have had no response....
So has any one else in our community tried similar things? and what was the response, if any if you did.

Babel Fish

Hi Deb, Do you every check your Babel Fish translations against someone who can actually speak the language?

I understand that it is very good but am told from people more multi-lingual than I that it sometimes does some strange things. Just curious of your experience.

strangeness

Yes it does strange things sometimes, but I always make a note at the bottom for my relatives that I translatted it on Babel Fish.

Well you see that all is in

Well you see that all is in reference to a monty python sketch about a hungarian to english phrase book that all the translations were wrong.thus my nipples are bursting with excitement actually means something like unhand me I am innocent! Alas it shows my lack of current tecno knowledge...I thought your reference to Bable fish was to that of Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.....the fish you put in your ear to translate. I did not know there actually was a program to do such a thing!
Learn something new every day.
