Lambic

Just so you know, any beverage with the word "lambic" indicates that "wild" yeasts and or bacteria have been purposely allowed to grow within the brew as it is fermenting. This will give the beer a slightly sour flavor that is enjoyed mostly in Belgium. I agree with Seamus, Cranberry Lambic is terrible.

Well I have recently tried a

Well I have recently tried a rasberry lambic that was made by a brewery overseas that was indeed good. I caught a bit of the sour at the end of the sip but it was more of a jolly rancher sour than a harvestor silo sour.....There is a corner store here in farmington that is located out side a trailer park that posses a beer selection that the inhabitants of said trailer park could not afford, I have to confess that some of its selection I myself cannot afford so I have to make sure when I go in there I have "screwed my courage to the sticking place" to prevent making a unwise purchase. the varieties they have range from PBR to fine ales made by trappist monks that come in bottles wrapped in parchment and sealed with wax. every once in a while I splirge and try one of the smaller bottles of the extreme stuff like a scottish variety that had elderberries...and no my wife is not a hamster!
SAm Adams produces some specialty beers for the masses that are good but the Lembic was one that missed the mark.

Ebulum!!!!

Holy smeg!! You've not only heard of Ebulum but have actually partaken of it's elderberry black goodness? I had one bottle about 3 years ago and fell madly in love with it. When I went back to get more (lots more!!) I was told " Oh, sorry, we got that batch by mistake, it was mixed in with our usual delivery". I recently found another place that carries products of the Heather Brewing Company but they inform me they can't get it either....this fabled trailer park beer mecca of yours doesn't still have any do they? Not that I'm trying to lead you down the path of temptation, but if they did I might be interested in purchasing an obscenely large amount of it!!!

And yes. Cranberry Lambic is the 2nd nastiest "beer" I've ever had...actually it ties for 1st place with a Belgian peat-smoked ale. I usually "rank" that one first because it was also the most expensive beer I ever had (and by had I mean "poured down the sink").

Lastly, there is a brand of lambic that's exceptionally good. Unfortunately I can't remember the name just now. It comes from Belgium in a "wine bottle" and comes in many fruit flavors. All the ones I've tried have been great. Only problem is it goes down WAY too smooth. You have the "holy crap! Did I drink that whole bottle!?" scenario.

Keep taking your blue mass!!
