Postions of Soldiers

MaineMan 1862's picture

Hi Everyone

I have a hard time firguring out which is 'In Place Rest' and 'Parade Rest' for the positioning of the rifle during events. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks again

Sincerely and Respectfully,

In place rest vs parade rest

When the command "In Place....REST" is given the soldier may take any position provided his left foot stays on "the line"and his rifle may be placed in any position. At the command "Parade...REST", the soldier keeps both feet on "the line", heels together and toes at a 45 degree angle. The rifle is brought in front of you, butt of the rifle on the ground with the lock to the front. Place your right hand above the third band and place your left hand above the right. But the best thing to do is check with an NCO or seasoned member of your unit, because depending on which manual they use, this could be different. Hope this helps.

Parade Rest

Almost got it right, the feet should be set in the "T" shape as is for firing.
