I walked into Paco's Tacos in Damariscotta for lunch this week and spied a pair of living historians on the cover of the Lincoln Country Magazine. The Lincoln Country Magazine is one of those free, complimentary copy, magazines that have a couple of articles , calendars, and lots of advertising in them. You know the kind. Anyway, the cover got me to pick it up.
On the cover is a nice photo of Ken Hamilton and Gus Kozinsky portraying a colonial surveyor and a native guide in the 1700's. They are part of McGaffrey's Creek History Resources.
The cover story has a list of the many historic sites and opportunities in Lincoln County.
Colonial Pemaquid
McGaffrey's Creek History Resources
Walking Tours of Waldoboro
Pownalborough Courthouse
Boothbay Railway Museum
Ft. Edgecomb
Lincoln County Museum and Old Jail
WW&F
Schooners out of Boothbay Harbor
Burnt Island Living Lighthouse Program
Damariscotta River Association Archaeological Field School
This list reminds me of all the little gems we have in Maine and introduced a few I was not aware of. I wish I had more time to play and explore because I want to get out and see history more.
I know there are a lot of obvious gems outside of Lincoln County but if you have a diamond in the rough that others may not be aware of then please post a link to share. Thanks,
P.S. - Wherever possible I have linked above. But if you find a link I don't have then let me know. Thanks again,

Funny how things work, yesterday I clicked on the pemiquid link and browsed a bit and when I got to work my day took me to Pemiquid......a fairly good day at work... up here the only diamond would be that comes to mind is the phillips railroad...its a section of track on the actuall railbed with the turntable and the depot.....in the winter theres Titcom Ski slope....and of course the many plays and music events that happen at UMF, I dont know if they are doing it this summer but in years past the OLD CROW INDIAN BAND used to have summer concerts in the town park Gazebo.
