Hartford's 2007 Patriot Day ceremony

The Hartford Historical Society is hosting the 3rd Maine and 29th Georgia civil war reenactment units in their 2007 Patriot Day ceremony which will be held on Sunday April 15th 2007.

This event will include the dedication of a bronze plate at a monument next to the Hartford Town Hall honoring the citizens who served in the civil war as well as a ceremony at the Parsons’ cemetery honoring an unknown confederate soldier who is buried there.

DATE: Sunday April 15th 2007 at 1:pm

LOCATION: Hartford Town Hall at 1196 Main St

EVENT: Special bronze plate dedication at the Town monument and at Parsons’ cemetery. a ceremony to honor an unknown confederate soldier's grave.

* Form up at Noon in the Town Hall bring your own lunch

* March down the hill on Tucker street to the Town Hall for a ceremony at the Town monument and then carpool to the Parsons’ cemetery for another dedication ceremony.

DIRECTIONS

* From the south, Travel to Auburn Maine

* take Rt 4 north from Auburn

* At the intersection of Rt 4 and Rt 219 at Bear Pond in North Turner. You will turn LEFT onto Rt 219. Just beyond the intersection on Rt 4 is the Bear Pond store (gas & food)

* Travel on Rt 219 for about 6.4 miles until you come to a stop sign

* Turn RIGHT onto Rt 140 (which is Main St) for about .5 mile to the Hartford Town Hall which will be on your right. Parking is available along Rt 140 (Main St) next to the Town Hall. Please carpool if possible.

Directions from the west (Augusta area)

* At the intersection of Rt 133 and Rt 202 in Winthrop, take Rt 133 towards Wayne & Livermore Falls (west)

At the intersection of Rt 133 with Rt 219, turn LEFT and follow Rt 219 straight through its intersection with Rt 4.

* Just north on Rt 4 (beyond the intersection of Rt 219 & Rt4) is the Bear Pond store (gas & food).

* Travel on Rt 219 for about 6.4 miles until you come to a stop sign

* Turn right onto Rt 140 (which is Main St) for about .5 mile to the Hartford Town Hall which will be on your right. Parking is available along Rt 140 (Main Street) next to the Town Hall. Please carpool if possible.
