Just want to drop a few lines on a new sport in Maine called Cowboy Fastdraw. Now the actual sport uses 45 cal wax bullets but I have a few in cap and ball 44 and 36 (38). Any how it is basically a quickdraw duel shooting a two targets with lights in the center. The lights come on simultantiously and your goal is to clear leather and hit the target first.
There is a club in Blue Hill that will meet around high noon on March 11. They strictly use 45's but they have extras for folk who want to try it out. $5 for the practice (I'll supply your ammo if you want to go) and $5 for shoot off. Coming in April, the Waldo County Rangers will start up near Bangor and hold it's first shoot in Winterport. We haven't set a firm date yet but will hold practise sessions every 1st and 2nd Thursday. If other folks are interested a new club can be formed in their areas. All depends on interest.
If you want more info, I'll be glad to give it.

Cowboy Clinic
Just to follow up on this. Matt I'll be dropping you an e-mail shortly. There will be a cowboy shooting Clinic this Saturday, starting at 9 in Augusta. The cost is $15, I'll sponser the guns and ammo. Fast draw will also be set up there as well. To take part contact me before Wednesday. If you just want to watch, then I guess it is free to spectators but you need eye and ear protection.
Take exit 112(a) from the South, or 112b from the north. Follow the road to Belgrade about 2-3 miles. Right after a small cemetary on the right is the road to the club. (Capitol City R&P). I think it is a chainsaw shop across the road.

Old theme, new story
A couple of news up dates. Patti and I have taken the Penobscot and Downeast Championships in Cowboy Fast Draw, held Aug 19 and Sept 15. The next event is the Waldo County Championship, Oct. 13 in Winterport. Any one wanted to try it out, let me know and I can bring the targets down to you. We will just need an area to shoot in. A garage is great or a backyard without neighbors behind. The guns sound like cap guns and the wax bullets don't travel far. Don't let the velocity factor fool you though. If you get hit by one, is will sting worse than a paint ball.
If some of you wouldn't mind checking out the website and give me some feed back.
