The Citizen's Companion

Since we have a new lady on the board perhaps we can get this forum moving along a bit faster. I recently got my second edition of the Citizen's Companion-the Voice of Civilian Reenacting. (Gotta love the catch phrase.) So far it's been quite fascinating but it got me to wondering if any other ladies here were subscribing to the magazine as well? If so I'd love to get your feedback on some of the articles. Especially this latest issue's claims about hairnets. ~Miss Patti

The Citizen's Companion

The Citizen's Companion sounds very nice and quite informative. Unfortunately, I'm not a subscriber... I hadn't heard of it before! Where is it available from?

Thank-you!

It's bi-monthly & may take a bit of time to get your subscription but I really do think it's well worth it. Not just for we ladies either. It has quite a few articles of interest for the gentlemen. Medical impressions, undertakers, even the usage of tobacco. An excellent read for all. I highly reccomend it.

Welcome back Rhonda!

Glad to see you haven't run away from us.:-)
The Citizen's Companion is truly an excellent source but they are terminally slow. The magazine comes out 4 times a year so they say that has something to do with it. I sent in my subscription in April & finally got my first issue after I asked them in person at Mannasssas in July. But the latest issue is truly a gem. It's full of information & sources for lady re-enactors. Everything from the undies & shoes to hair & jewelery. I think they have them available for order. At least that's what they've been touting in the magazine itself. Like I say it just takes them a while but it is worth it in the long run.

Can't get rid of me!!!

I actually got in touch with them via email and they gave me a number to call...I still haven't ordered the special issue and figure I will get it and subsribe to. They were very friendly and helpful.
Miss Patti I do hope I get to meet you and your 'crew' this spring or summer. I am redoing my whole wardrobe due to a weight lose but shouldn't have any trouble having something to wear! :)
Has anyone here read the book "Every Lady Her Own Shoe Maker" It is available from the Old Sturbridge Village Museum Gift Shop...google them for the website. They have some great resources. I want to make my own shoes....along with a million other projects. :) I probably won't live long enough to do them all!

Have a great day/week!
