Kitchen Conference - A look back, A look forward

Well I would like to declare the first Kitchen Confrence season a success! I'm sorry I missed the March event but it sounds like everyone had a good time and I know I learned a few things along the way.

Craig Young, Mike Pratt and I chatted a few minutes this evening and think we should definately try this again next winter. But perhaps on a different schedule.

So what did everyone think about the four Kitchen Conferences we had this past winter?

What do you think about early November, late January and late March as a meeting schedule for next winter? Just three, not four. And more spaced out.

Thank you one and all for your support and cooperation! See you in the field soon...

alas the sadness comes with the ending of a grand time.

I think it was a Great Idea that could become greater, if nothing less then the fostering of comradarie between the units of Maine. the possibilities of further "workshops" would be nice and maybe even more to on of the orginal posts we can lean period skills and divid the time into groups. with civilian ladies teaching those who dont know the finer arts to knit or embroider and for other crafts such as candle making or the construction of uniforms, casting of minne' balls.
the 6th regt at its confederate Memorial Day is having workshops similar in nature...also including operating with cav in the field and basic first aid.....maybe next year we could have a CPR class, though not period it would be important considering the avarage age of reenactors....maybe with fewer and longer apart we could have sessions that ran a little longer but covered more specific topics in depth with hands on workshops...just freewheeling brainstorming here but I think with some focus and direction.
we could have a presentation on Straight Razor shaving given by the Doc!
