Date: Saturday, April 8th, 2006
Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Place: Norlands Living History Center, Livermore, Maine.(Specfic directions to follow later.)
Limited to 24 participants.

Agenda:
Willie Irish will give a talk on "Role Playing at Norlands".

Willie would very much like to see a heathy civilian turnout at this workshop. I feel that it is a wonderful opportunity the Living History / Re-enactor community here in Maine to improve their civil war soldier/civilian presentation to the public. Through this FREE workshop, we will learn HOW to better interact with Norlands' interpreters to create living history scenarios that will make the experience for the public more enjoyable.
Thanks for your support,
Craig Young

PRIMA NOCTA

Good gathering today

The turn out today was 11, if I include Willie Irish.

She was great! Willie talked about how the Norlands views first person presentations and what the try to do.

She said they try to use the following 3 criteria:

  1. Pick a time.
  2. Pick a place.
  3. Pick a person.

And always try to:

  • Have fun.
  • Make participation.
  • Make it relate for the participant.

She walked us through an excersie they use with students. We were each given a folder filled with info about actual people from the local area around the Norlands from the 1800's. And in a half hour of reading over this stuff, give a first person presentation on our character.

A half hour is not much time but I think everyone did very well with it and had a lot of fun.

A big thanks go out to the Norlands, Willie Irish herself, and everyone who participated today.
