I got what looks like a pretty good deal on a lightweight (untreated) A-Frame tent on E-Bay:
(Item 6600295115)
and the seller wants to know if I want grommets on the ridge corners of that tent.
Anyone have thoughts on what to do there? I would, of course, prefer authenticity, rather than farbricity.
Thanks,

grommets....
Tom, I have helped many members of the Third Maine erect their "A" tents and they all had grommets. So, being a fab myself, I say go with the grommets.

Thanks. Next I need to figure out if and how to add doors to the thing.
you dont need no stinking doors............
it looks like a dog tent on steroids! after reading the description on the winners page I dont think the maker ever intended doors to be on the tent "as they were back then" et.al
but I suppose if you know someone who sews canvas you can add em...I can just feel that cold wind blowing through....

Actually...
It looks like a tent fly turned into a wedge tent.

Second, Craig with grommets. The door is really up to your preference. I don't have any on mine but some times wish I had. If the seller is including them in the cost....take them but only if they are detachable. Doors on this tent were done as such. If not, compare his price with Blockade runner before you decide.

No comparison
Thanks, I did compair with Blockade Runner and this price is only a fraction of what they ask for A-Frame tents, but it really is a different product, the canvas is a bit lighter, and BR treats the canvas on their A-Frame tents.
I thought I could stich some doors on, but I might try to make some "tie on" doors with little canvas strips sewn to the pieces.
You know, I figure if you can do it yourself, they probably did it themselves way back when.
A-tent
Try Fall Creek.
They have the best prices I've found.

Check your state regs on treatments.
Here in New York, all tents and flys, even dog tents, must be treated to be fire retardent.

Wedge?
After close scrutiny, pard thats a dog tent. No A-frame or wedge made by anyone ismade without at least a solid back and flaps in t he front. A good wedge will cost you at least $125.00

Fall Creek prices are pretty
Fall Creek prices are pretty good!
I'll use this as a larger tent for now, and go to Fall Creek if I need a more industrial version!
Ditto Major
I have to agree with Major Reeder, Judging by the pic and description, I think this is a small fly being mis-represented as an A-tent. As I recall a large fly runs aound $100?

SADLY..
Not any more...
On a brighter note I have a GORGEOUS Confederate Mounted Artillery sword. It's a neat design and one you seldom seen. Copied from a captured sword from Murphriesboro (or however it's spelt)
That one has to go for $100
It's a superior quality sword used at one event. I just decided my 1840 Mounted Artillery sword was more ME.
I also have a George McClellan CDV. it's in great shape. Cost me $35 sell for $25
