Hello all, one day after my return from the Tar Heel State the 15th Alabama had its annual Christmas Party this past Sunday. I must say that I had some getting used to the dry air up here. It was much more damp in NC and my skin dried right up when I came back!
Ken, Sharron, and Ben Patten hosted the Christmas party this year in Winthrop and the turn out was awesome. Just as wonderful was all the food that the Patten's cooked up and what others brought. Thank you Jake, for bringing the meats and to everyone else who contributed.
The unit enjoyed watching films that Ken had made of Cedar Creek last year and Rayegate this year.
We had a very emotional moment following our cerimonial pledge to the Confederate flag. The unit presented a Nathan Bedford Forrest twelve star battle flag shrined in a beautiful case to Captain Bim Hansen for all that he has done for our unit in the past. We pledged to support him in the future and he pledged his friendship to us in return. It was a moving moment.
I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas. As we celeberate Christ's birth may all be calm and bright.

Josh, please do not stir up old wounds if that is where you were heading. Let's keep personal issues off a public board.

Healthy banter is okay Josh. It's just important to remember that reading someone's intent is hard to do at times by this medium. If joking then joke wisely, so that everyone knows the source and intent. Like Seamus does! :)
The old rivalry is fading. Now it's OK for both of your groups to make fun of Yankees together! Or did no one tell you?
Thank you everyone for a great year on the message board. I look forward to even more next year.

No Chaplan Picking if you please
There's blue bellies aplenty for us to pick on & Zac does an excellent job as Chaplan and as a Confederate private which he showed quite admirably at the Ft. Knox children's day. There now. No more picking or I'll have to perform my moose nugget cure on you. Goodness knows just the mention of it cured the Major so hopefully it'll have the same effect here.

Thank you all for your kind
Thank you all for your kind words, and thank you Josh for your words. You guys are some of the best friends I have. Even you yanks are making me feel all soft and mushy! I almost wish I didn't have to march against you on the field of battle! Well..hehe, just almost ;-)
Glad you folks in the 29th had a happy party. Who else had a Christmas party this year? How did the "ear muff" parade go?
those boys in blue over
those boys in blue over there they just dont seem like the enemy to me...... There will be harmony and good times ahead for I decree it and now we will make it so.....Failure is not an option, Id like an order of Moose Nuggets to go with a coffee moxie shake.
Now kidding aside, I think the earmuff parade went well despite some early on misteps on my part, Nervous I was, Its not often something like this occurs,Reb leading the yanks and rebs in a combined forcebut I recovered once we got started...plus it was cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey....(not a dirty phrase but a nauticle one) but once we got our groove thang going we were having fun....Ihope others felt the same, it was good to be amongst friends for a little while....now if we can just do something about the weather!
on a totaly off note, while I am typing this I looked out the window and saw what is the most beutiful site of this time of year, the sky is clear and its a full moon and it shows bright upon the white snow, and looking on that how can we be hateful during this time of year?....an this is coming from a confirmed scrooge!

the Full Moon
I watched it rise last night and watched it set this morning. As always a wonderous sight. It's also usually colder this time of month. Officially, there is no feud between the 29th GVI and 15th Ala. I think every one is aware of this, unless there is something I don't know about?
I have always said open communication is good for avoiding problems but I have discovered that open communication is not always as easy as it sounds. Lately Seamus and have been talking about the old feud and laughing about the silliness and finding common ground.
Next year we will be considering a joint party for the Confederates instead of two small ones. (I suppose the yanks will be invited) We would have done it this year but the calendars and plans were already set. We will probably do some joint ventures next year, at least that is my hope.
Will
I actually went....
...to a party in blue. It was actually kind of fun. Of course I had good company, but the blue folks can actually lighten up when they want to!
Plus they had a tray of Moose Nuggets and you all know how I cannot resist them... They're Chewey!

Earmuff Parade
I'd say went very well. At least no one's bodily parts fell off. Although I'd say it's not good when you're lined up to march & they're still decorating the float in front of you. Fortunately we had a bunny & loon seperating us from the jazz band. I was slightly concerned that the beat would throw off our drummer boy. The percherons didn't like the firing but they came through it well. Seamus did a fine job as Captain even though he did need a hug before he could do weapons inspection. But tell me, is it a bad sign when there are snowplows as floats in the parade? Just wondering.

at least if you are in front
at least if you are in front of the plow and you fall down you willget pushed off to the side. the loon and bunny were a bit disconcerting, as I was worried until others pointed out their existance. before the parade was over I considered leveling the muskets.....as both bunny and loon were dancing...it was becoming a bit too much.....much to my dismay the band on the float didnt play anything from the charlie Brown soundtrack.......
I also feel like good times are ahead.
