Chester Greenwood Day Parade

Matt, I will be there. This parade is alway FUN and public support for the parade is wonderful.

My best memory is when John Bunnell lead us thru a snow squall. Firing in the snow is great fun! This is the perfect parade for wearing Great Coats. Remember to adjust your leather gear to be worn outside of the Great Coat.

Civilians and Field Music are very welcome! See you there!

Misunderstandings

Some folks have inferred that I will be commanding at the parade...
Wrong! I had already tagged Capt. Pratt to lead the fine Southern boys (and any yanks that will follow) down the streets before committing to the event. I look forward to carrying a musket and firing some rounds. This will be our last official event for the year in support of the Maine Civil War community.

GO NAVY BEAT ARMY, and wear earmuffs if you got em!

Thats one thing about you craig, ask a question and you get an answer! who does push ups when your team gets a touchdown? I remember one year when I lived in Ga across a yard from my in-laws, every time navy made a touch down Id run over to my father in laws porch(retired Army) and do ten pushups, did a lot of pushups that day!
but it looks like the forcast for Sat is still clear...hopefully no hugh snows but you know weathermen....they lie!

Parade

I think we should remember something That might have been forgotten, we do this parade as support to the umf civil war society though some years we outnumber the students, I do live in Farmington but that doesnt necessarily mean im "in charge" its a farily loose shoot from the hip parade and we tend to have fun amongst ourselves I have done this parade two times before this, and last year we fired a left oblique at Mark Romans old dorm, we lose all feeling in our toes and fingers and like madmen we laugh about it...I am like "THE MAN" because craig decreed it and I live in Farmington and we are going to have fun...cant wait to see all who do come...
Matt, how many members of the civil war society are there?

Hurrah!!!

I love the smell of black powder in the morning...

I talked with Doug and he said that very few of the UMF civil war club members may or may not be with us.

Doug needs to buy a tin of caps. So, If anyone has a tin to sell, please bring them for Doug.

See you all at the BIG parade!

I am glad you all are going

I am glad you all are going to support the UMF Civil War society in this parade. This event is something they take a lot of pride in.
I was a member of the society during when I attended UMF some years back. Back then we had a fairly good sized membership that we had our own company. The hotheads of the 2nd Maine. Before leaving, we formed a counter company, the 15th Alabama company E. We had ordered all gray uniforms and even a sparkling captain's frock coat. Problem was by this time we had no troops but Doug, our Advisor. And by this time Doug had found a home in the 3rd Maine.
Your support of the Civil War society at the parade will help promote this great little society. Review what other clubs are being promoted at this college. The Alliance (who discuses sexuality and diverse issues), UMF college democrats, and UMF Stitch and Bitch are just a few of the other happy clubs offered. It is vital that the UMF Civil War Society continue to exist!
I will not be attending the parade for I am out of town. But good luck to all those who attend. Stay warm and have fun!

How was it?

Hope everyone enjoyed the parade, I had planned to go, but Friday night brought on a couple of homework assignments from the "part time job" that I had to get done before the end of the weekend. In turn, fun lost out.

Zac there were no flags from

Zac there were no flags from either side there, as we were the civil war composit group..
but all and all it was a cold parade, I believe every one had as much fun as you can have at a parade, because I havent recieved any death threats or hate mail.....
its a bizzare local custom, so it gave others a glimpse of life in Farmington....
