Interesting

I know that this gentleman has been selling these since around last July as I put a bid on one. They had sold for about $35 back then. He gave me a second chance offer. I don't remember the cost but it was around $30. No, I haven't bought one yet.

Good catch!

Steve,
I doubt you'd get a less expensive wool blanket and the color looks perfect!

Let me know...

Let me know if anyone orders one from there.

I ordered one from ebay, it came wrapped in plastic "made in India," which was fine, but it reeked of formaldehyde, which is used sometimes as a preservative/anti-insect treatment for international shipped items. I washed it and it still reeks.

I would like to know how folks made out with these blankets - if they are OK I would order one!

Looks like a good deal

I don't think'd you'd find a used blanket at that price, it may be worth jumping on.

Tom, you may just have to hang that blanket outside to let it air out if you have not already. Essance of Formaldehyde can be very hard to dissipate.

Much akin to...

Eau de Pew!

Leave it outside for a few days

Marc is correct. And frankly just leaving ti outside for a few days wont hurt it. If it gets wet just let it air dry. Just make sure it can fly free, like from a clothes line, and not rest against anything, like a fence.

Sounds like someones got

Sounds like someones got issues with fences, were you bitten by one as a small child..actually I have a different tack on the formaldahyde, build a fire and hang it ner so it gets absolutly innendated with smoke, Id rather smell smoke than formaldahyde any day, I suggest burning birch or maple to get the absoulte essence of Camp Life!

Air better away from a solid object

I was actually bitten twice by a fence as a child. My first experience with barbed wire left a scar (wont discuss where in public) and my first experience with electric wire fence.

But I was more thinking of the solid or picket fence when I mentioned that. My thought was that you want it to get plenty of air. Your idea of smoking it is a good one though.

GREATLY improved!

I tried before just spreading it out inside the house, and all I got out of the deal was a headache. Tonight I hung it on a clothesline, exactly like Michael said, for a few hours and its bouquet is GREATLY improved!

I love formaldahyde!

Nothing like a good formaldahyde buzz. especially when you buy a brand spanking new double wide and you get to take down all those "this was made with formaldahyde" warning signs, those first heady months are wild. Electric fences are nothing I used to test them by grabbing em. great trick to amaze your friends.
Ive got to stay away from that blanket deal....Im a potential civil war shopaholic/ pack rat extrodanire, you should see my closet where I keep all my civil war stuff that I can fit in..but its competing for space with all my old navy uniforms,my cammies alot of old shoes, a turn of the century typewriter, a brown bess bayonet(orginal) a french bayonet(1871 st. etinne) and a bayonet for a m-16, not to mention three flight suits a helmet bag that contains my log book and headset and alice pack that is stuffed with LBE's and a couple of plastic canteens all in a space that is smaller than a phone booth. oh an I have at least four blankets in there as well, so dont show me the blanket deal...I hve no more space!

Red wool

Ok guys I do not want to bust any ones bubble but if your blanket is wool and made in India you are not smelling formaldehyde. Ok tighen you girth and hold to your reins what you are smelling is horse urine. It is used in 3rd world countries to felt the wool. There is an easy cure to this you wash your blanket in warm water with alot of salt in it do not dry hang it in the sun. I have wool strung all over my house right now and I have smelled some realy bad imported fabric. Best of luck just think of it this way. What is a stinky blanket if not shared with friends. Farm boy here...but........

Im afraid I have but one word...
EWWWWWWWWWW!
I personaly like the smell of horses but not horse urine....but thats an interesting bit of info to know though....I never would have thought of it.....but I understand there have been several valid chemical uses of urine for many different purposes and animals, my wife has told me the used human urine to get white leather, how she knows this I dont know and may never want to.....

white leather

Seamus, if your wife is a reader I may know where she came by that little tidbit about human urine used for making white leather. I believe it was a novel called "People of the Mamoth" (?) or something along those lines. Interesting the things novelists learn when they're writing that they then pass on to their readers.

red blanket

All will be well with your blanket now. My sewing room always looks like a tent maker. I buy fabric 20 yards in one bolt and I must own over 100 bolts some wool some cotton some silk they all have thier own smell. All is well that ends well CopperHeadAnnie

blankets

Tom there would always be a man sleep with the horses if not 2 or 3. In the ranks of Morgan and Stewart it was the best guards that slept with the horse. You have to remember they would have to move on a split seconds warning the guard had a way of hooking the horse together in order of mounting so the brave men could fly with swords held high Hawks and eagles fly like doves. I'll take 2

Just checked Harbor Freight today and they are on sale for $5.99, so I ordered two. I probably only needed one - at least I think - but at that price... So, I would be happy to split the cost should I (Or higher HQ) arrives at the decision that I really only need one. Would be about $9.50

Great News!

I'll take one at that price. If anyone else is interested then let's put an order together. The shipping for one or two is $6.99. The shipping for three or four is only $7.99. Any takers?

If no one is interested then I'll place an order for two and try to sell the second one later.

two is good mark.

in maine one can never have enough blankets. I own two green ones and one "captured"cav blanket..but I often find myself in surplus stores looking at the dutch and british and eye-talian blankets...there are some white wool ones that are going for like ten dollars that blockade runners is selling for 24.95 A little more if you want the edges whip stiched...by the two and tell her its to protect the family jewels.....

Well I guess I shouldn't have waited

I went online to order today. But the price has gone back up to $11.99. Still a good price but not so good that I'm going to order six of them right now.

So those that wanted to join my bulk order, I'm sorry. Maybe another time.

Thanks,
