…the saga continues from the new tent from sutler thread…
I had purchased a great coat pattern made by Period Impressions. Will started the project and I picked it up about half way through. It was enough to convince me I had no desire to try a great coat again any time soon, much to the disappointment of several 29th GA members that were ready to place orders. My forage cap is a Period pattern as well.
My vest is Simplicity – but they lie – they aren’t too simple to figure out on some parts of the instructions. The Denim Star came with 3 free Simplicity patterns and I only ordered one, (18th Century Drawers) and let Lauren’s mom pick the other two for her use.
I used Galla Rock for my shirt pattern and liked it quite well. I also bought a shell jacket and pants pattern from them – maybe another winter project(s) – they look equally simple. Galla is a bit slow in shipping stuff, the only drawback, which is minor. They use to sell on ebay, have not seem them for several months, their website: http://www.gallarock.com/index.html Fall Creek Sutler is also going to start carrying their patterns.

Oddly enough...
Getting together during the winter to fix stuff might be a good idea...

Beer and sewing????
Sounds like a good Idea, along the lines of the "kitchen cabinet" those who sew can help out the ones who are new...those who cut and roll their own cartridge papers can show how its done to those who are novices and anyother skills that can be taught and learned can be exchanged....over quaffs of ale and roudy and ribald songs!

There are many possibilities
There are many possibilities for winter activities. Beer & sewing is a good concept. Speaking of cartridges, I have just started to experiment with “masking paper
Paper ladies
Masking paper sounds interesting let me know how it works. Irish Joe sells tubes of brown paper. Claims they are the most authentic.
I started packing some trademark paper ladies. They are not string tied and pack to about 1-1.5 of an inch in height. We'll be issuing them at the Fort next month.

Yes, I have read that before
Yes, I have read that before = local were brown, British were white.
I drilled the end of my rolling dowl to press the twist into instead of tieing. Cuts rolling time in half. Wrapped, filled & filled it is about 2.5 inches = easier to grab in the cartridge box. I'll bring some to the fort.
An 18"x480' roll was about $3.60+tax, based on the size of the trapezoid I am using, should get about 5,376 tubes from the roll. (if my match is correct)
Still have some doodle paper ones cut and some that paper left to go for another 400+ rounds.
