Anybody read any of these? I saw them in a gift shop when we were at G'burg and they sort of piqued my interest. The local library doesn't have it, and I don't really want to buy them, but before I go to the trouble of trying to get them through inter-library loan, I just wondered if they're worth the read?
So, has anybody read them, and what did you think?
Thanks, Joe.

depends
Depends on what you're looking for. They're a collection of "eyewitness" accounts so they consist of a lot of speculation and "we saw something" or "there was a strange feeling around...". If you're into the whole "paranormal" thing (as I am) I'd recommend them as they represent a large selection of people's strange experiences at Gettysburg. If you're looking for some scary ghost stories I'd reccomend something else. On the plus side they are fairly cheap and the 20th Maine Bookstore carries all of them, that's how I got 'em, one at a time...

Patti might have a few
Joe,
Let me check with Patti cause I thinks she has one or two of the volumes. I am big on ghosts but after listening to many hyped up tales...I concluded that a fair number of the tales are truely hogwash. There are some that could be true. I'll get back with you on what she has.

Jacob Weikert Farm
I had the pleasure several years ago to listen to the owners of the Jacob Weikert Farm speak of their experiences since they took ownership a few years prior. They had many many photos of orbs. It was very interesting.
I do not recall their names. But the wife spoke to the spiritual residents with fondness. She enjoyed cooking for them. Apparently she got feedback on the scents of the food.
The husband was a bit more skeptical I think. But spoke of his own experiences. He simply had no better explanation that some kind of spirit.
The pictures of the orbs were amazing. The barn where many soldiers died was filled with orbs. The kitchen were the operating table was was also very active. In fact, the sales agreement states that they can not re-do the blood stained floors. Apparently, since 1863, nothing but soap, water and wax are the only things done to the blood stains.
I don't know how to explain some things I've seen. All I know is that I don't think the dead are to be triffled with.

Ghosts of Gettysburg
Joe,
Patti dug up two early copies of the book plus "Haunts of the Cashtown Inn" by Suzanne Gruber and Bob Wase. I guess I might as well read them tonight at work. I'll give you my impression afterwards.

I've been holding back on this....
I've been involved in several full blown honest to goodness Haunting investigations. On my most recent one, I was working with those guys from TAPS scouting a Maine location for the Sci-Fi channel show "Ghost Hunters" You have to be really careful with orbs. I've personally seen a moving orb with my own eyes a couple of times. I have also seen that dust particles can look VERY simular in photographs. We did tests taking digital camera shots with two cameras pointed at the same direction and got the same orb on both photos. I took a photo on little round top that shows a bright yellow luminous in the morning gloom. I wouldn't say THAT was a dust particle! I've seen a couple good apparitions from Gettysburg. One looks for all the world like a cavalryman carrying a saddle through the murky mist. another looks like a misty officer on horseback.
