It is with great saddness that I report the death of Edmund B. Sylvia. He has been dealing with cancer for some time now. I did not know Mr. Sylvia well. I share the following quotes from others.

Ed joined the unit in late 2003 and had battling cancer for some time. His disease actually motivated him to become a reenactor as it had been something he always wanted to do, but had put it off. The last event he attended was Chamberlain Days earlier this month, where he volunteered in the recruiting tent.

He was a great guy, well liked by all who met him.

Ed's wife feels that it would have pleased him very much if reenactors who attend his service would be in uniform.

The following is the address for cards:

Topsham, ME 04086

Please say a prayer for him and his family. If any other information comes my way then I will try to pass it along as promptly as possible.

God bless the Sylvia family.

Greetings,
I have attempted to put my feelings for Ed into a few lines of verse.

Reenactor Truth
by Craig Young

Every reenactor knows
We never walk alone
There beside you through it all
Walks a filemate who is your pard

Through the cool rain and hot sun
Along life’s rough and rocky road
Experiencing the awaresome moments
As well as the desperate ones

Together, we share life’s sweetness
And stare death straight in the eye
But never did I believe that
The empty chair would be yours

Hurrah for Life, Hurrah for Friendship
and Hurrah for the love of the hobby
Here’s to counting off..1..2...1
Give left...Take water
Marching... dress the line
And to Come to the Ready,
Take Aim... FIRE!

May Peace surround you
And may your spirit soar high
Our dear friend...
When you are challenged at the Gate
Answer...A friend with the counter sign
Glory
