I'm not sure what the final count was for attendance at Chamberlain Days but the turn out was great. At least forty, counting military and civilian, Union and Confederate, I should think.
The spectators were steady most of the day. Some just looking but many asking good questions. And a few potential recruits as well. The drills were good as there were a few fresh fish in attendance.
I had a great time. It was nice seeing everyone there.

Chamberlain Days
I agree with Mike, the event was successful with about 40+ in attendance. It was terribly hot on Saturday as it was 85 degrees at 9:30 PM when I left Saturday evening.
Troops in attendance were 3rd-20th Maine, 29th GVI (w Cotton's Battery) and the 3rd Ark who showed up with 3 military and 4-5 Civilians. It was a nice and workable mix.
It was very nice to meet copperheadannie for the first time and sort of rambling about ole times in the south and how it's changing. Wish we had more time but there will be other days.
Special thanks to Mary and all the crew who put forth the special effort to make this a wonderful event. Especially the ladies who slaved over the hot camp fire to provide dinner for everyone.
A big Thanks to Cpl. Joe for running and calling the evening dance. Everyone appeared to enjoy the festivities including the many spectators, some of which went out of their way to be helpful with lighting and other needs. A small number of the town citzens joining in the dance.
Finally but not lest, a big thanks to the hosts and the town and people of Brunswick. For such a large populance, one could never expect a nicer event. Spectator incidents were minimal and there were no major concerns up to the time of Saturday night.
Respectfully,
William Cotton Gillway
