Though the website doesn't mention it, the plot of land that Pizza Hut sits on is believed to be the spot were Gen.Cleburne was killed. You will need to stroll down the page to the Franklin section of the site.
This is fantastic news and I hope the city follows through with the plans. The Battlefield is overrun with urban spawl.

Alot of money was raised in the millions just this past spring to save this battle field here in TN, They did a fine job. It is a special battle field one of my favorites.

In small ways there are a group of us here in Maine that are assisting with the effort. There are a number of us that belong to the SCV camp in Franklin. Evey little effort helps. I am personally glad that the country club next to the Carnton Plantation was able to be purchased. There is little that needs to be done to restore that area. There still a lot to be done in other areas.

That is so good to hear. The SCV is having a convention here in Nashville this week end and I talked with a few of them yesturday. It is a big day at the Hermitage today. Franklin donation
The 3rd Maine voted to donate $500 to assist in the purchase of the plot of land that Pizza Hut sits on. We try to support battlefield preservation whenever it is possible for us to do so.

Tobey that was a great donation. After having lived in the South for 23 years my heart breaks everytime I see a new shoping center or a subdivsion go up where brave men gave thier lives in such a struggle. Confederate White House
Talked with some of the units from the SCV Saturday while I worked at the Hermitage. They told me some upseting knews about the Confederate White House. The state gov. is meeting to see what they can do to save or move the house from it's location. Also wanted you all to know the Confederate Hall here in Nashville will continue to be called Confederate Hall. There had been a court hearing on this matter but the issue was droped. It seems that the SCV convention was full of alot of vollies from both the conservative and the liberal side. Boy I wish Americans would learn to perserve our history no matter how political incorect it seems in todays standards.
