I posted some photos of the Third Maine from today's parade. Sorry i couldn't join you fellas today but the minister of household affairs insisted that I watch the parade with my one year old.
Mike,
Thanks for the great photos of the Bath parade. The crowd was great. They stood in sections and cheered as the 3rd Maines flag passed. It is sad but unusual for a crowd to honored a flag in a parade. The people of Bath know how to have a good time at a parade!

Great photos. The Bath parade is the best one I have ever participated in...every time we do it I am amazed at the crowd, both in numbers and excitement.
Not that I have any part of it's success, but I was born and raised there. I guess I've marched in the parade, with one group or another, about twelve times since I was a kid. Other than three parades I missed, I have watched the rest.
Always a big crowd! And other than the oven that is Front Street on the really hot days, it's not a bad route. Just that slight uphill leading to City Hall.
When the weather is good, they pack about 15,000 people downtown for the fireworks as well. It's a real party!
Mike,
I grew up in Woolwich and consequently Bath as well. I too have fond memories of heritage days passed. But I have to ask...Is you a Morse grad-oo-ate? I was class of '84...

Actually it was route 127 but ayuh, that's the one. For what it's worth I wasted many an hour of my youth snowmobiling in that field across from the "taste o Maine"

Through a strange twist of fate that is life, I ended up in Virginia Beach, Virginia for my junior and senior year of high school and graduated from Green Run High Shcool. I was a sophomore at Morse in 1984-1985.
Had a great time in Winslow. The 15th Alabama Company G had a great turnout and was grandly led by our first Sergeant, Mike Pratt. The volleys we fired were crisp and each soldier in gray performed very well in celebrating our Independence. I am also happy to submit that the 15th Alabama won first prize in the marching category of the Winslow Parade.
If anybody saw three rebel soldiers climbing a rock climbing wall at the Winslow celebrations after the parade that would indeed have been myself, Pvt. Sam and Pvt. Mallorie. Hope you all enjoyed our National Holiday as I did.

What a coincidence!!
I was a senior at Morse for 3 years!! Well, not really, actually I did pretty...lets just say I graduated and leave it at that.
I seem to recall you teach science. I had Mr Lepage way back when I was taking science, he was a great guy. If you could get him talking about his experiences during WW2 he'd talk right through a double period lab class. He used to let us "play" with the mercury as well when discussing the elements...good times...

I remember Mr. Lapage. Doc, did you go to Bath Junior High School as well? Of course it was called the Middle School today but when we went there it was still a Junior High School. If so, do you remember Mr. Dow? He taught math and always told WWII stories. I still vaguely recall his "mathmatical explanation of Thanksgiving Day 1944 when he was the sole defender of the entire western front."
Eric,
I remembered you posting about the plutonium a long time ago & must have just assumed you were part of the science dept. My brother in law & a friend in the 3rd Me are both going for their degrees in teaching to be high school history teachers. I'll tell them to get a minor in film production to be on the safe side :)
Mike,
As a Woolwicher I only attended the jr high for 9th grade. I remember Mr Dow's name but never had him, although I can't remember who I did have either. How about Mr. Peabody (shop class)? now there was a charector!!
