At 2PM on September 11, 2011, Matthew Barker will give a lecture at the Maine Irish Heritage Center about the Portland, Maine Irish’s involvement in the American Civil War. Barker’s upcoming book, "The Blue and the Green: The Portland, Maine Irish During the Civil War", was inspired by another history he is currently penning about the overall influence the Irish have had in Portland.
