Maine History Online Maine Historical Society has a new section on The Maine Memory Network, called Maine History Online. Maine History Online is an overview of all of Maine's history in a series of essays, historical images, and other documents. It makes a nice primer for someone not familiar with all this state has experienced and could be used as an online text book.

Of course anytime anyone writes a history, someone will always be critical of it in some way. I find that I am that someone this time.

I'd love to see some more detailed articles on incidents mentioned. For instance, I'd love to read more surrounding the "peace demonstrations, including a gathering of about 15,000 in Dexter". That's quite a gathering!

There is a bibliography, but I'd like it more closely connected to the essays themselves.

But all in all, it's great to see this resource. It's worth checking it out and being aware of it. Thanks, Maine Historical Society
