Share a tent?

Welcome aboard Bobby,

Most of the visitors to this forum are in New England. I see from your profile that you are in North Carolina? I just wanted to be clear about the geography for anyone who may have something to help you.

Since money is tight, I'd focus on the rifle. I'm sure you can find someone to share a tent with. I bunked with others for the first few years of my reenacting.

Best of luck in your search,

Yup the Musket is the hard

Yup the Musket is the hard part. Why focus on a Springfield? If I were looking I would look for the best deal on any authentic musket that I could find. You can always replace or trade up when times are better. As for tentage you can always build a shebang out of what you can find at an event or better yet any paint store, Lowes, Home depot etc, sell canvas painters drop cloths for under $50. It is a simple matter to build a shebang out of these drop cloths. However you might want to check the weather before you go since a shebang is not as "snug" as an actual tent!

Good Luck

Morning Bobby, Another type

Morning Bobby, Another type of musket that you might try is a 69 caliber like a 42 Springfield they tend to be slightly lighter. Check with your pards and see if someone has one that you could shoulder, might just make the differance.

Good Luck
