I was looking the other day at some sites that I havent been on due to my recent e-mail shortage and I have found that Dog river glassworks web page is down.....always a great place for authentic yet expensive period glass items, so I was wondering if they have gone out of biz, or is it just a website issue? also does anyone know of another company that does glass? I am also been on the trail of some period label examples for possible future use in screen printing......let me know if anyone has a good link....

Hey Seamus, Don't know about
Hey Seamus,
Don't know about the site you're looking for, but try this for some samples of bottles: http://www.carterandjasper.com/groceries.htm or: http://www.theramblingirishman.com/original_items

The links Marc has listed are a good call. You can't go wrong with them.
As far as the label examples, that's a good one. The best thing I can say is Sullivan Press. They have a cd for sale with 61 period labels on it.

I hope this helps

Marc, dog river was a
Marc, dog river was a frequent advertiser in the Camp cahse Gazette their cathedral mustard bottle was often the feture item in the ad, they had other things as well like tankards and china....tre' expensive but really nice looking... but as often is the case if you know where to look you can get the actuall items sometimes as cheap as the repros, if not cheaper....and in the past I have led an exhausting search for example of period coffe, flour and sugar labels and bags....in a perfect world I would like to get a simple home silk screen kit and make bags for the above items....I found a site that sells cotton bags, I think its called Bags.com but I could be mistaken...thought about this after thinking of how many people must have ordered that "lion coffee" bag from Fall Creek without reading the dimensions of it and when they got the little poke sack of coffee with that paper label stuck to it...Cavat emptor!
so since then I have from time to time gone on the search for examples to try and replicate freehand if necessary but with a much grander notion (that i doubt will find fruition) of creating the screens for.....Its my desire to become more period in my impression which is always a work in progress....thanks for the links from the both of you, I will have to check em out though I have been on sullivan press before......it looks like a fine site with excellent products......

Mike, Get on The Authentic
Mike,
Get on The Authentic Campaigner and go under 'Social Groups' and find "Material Culture Help Group" and you'll find quite a few examples of labels too.

persona non Grata
If I can look without being a member that would be grand....I used to be a member but they had a big server changeover a few years ago and when I went on to reapply I guess I didnt make the grade so my request was denied.....I dont know why I never posted anything but questions or short info replys, stayed out of the farb streamer authentic debate but was either overlooked or purposly denied so me being me I was like to hell with you then and never tried to get on the member list again.
Its that old Irish Spite that gets kindled in my soul....
but I will look about.....
